Your choice for infant care in Northern Colorado

Why work with us?

1

We represent the highest level of commitment to continuing education and child safety.

Both Hatheways have years of experience and education in healthy child development work. We took an oath and were sworn by a judge to protect children from abuse and neglect after 40 hours of training, with 12 hours of continuing education yearly.

2

There is a better alternative to leaving your baby with a friend, hosting a high schooler to babysit in your home, or asking a family member again.

We provide a safe and soothing environment that you can feel good about choosing for your child. When you want to be able to drop off your child and know that they will be singularly focused on by an attentive carer, you should choose to work with the Hatheway Home.

Care for babies under 1 and overnight care are specialized needs that require an experienced, attentive professional.

Based on careful research around community needs in Northern Colorado, I have tailored my services to fit a niche that I have been told is difficult for parents to find. Kelsey is a reliable night owl who will watch over your young baby and keep them comfortable and safe while they sleep.

Why is your logo a fawn?

When I was very small, I would visit my grandmother at her home in the woods in rural Arkansas. She carefully nurtured me in every way, just like she cared for the does and their fawns that came to her backyard every spring. She would quietly call me to the big glass door to look out and see the baby deer and their mothers. For me, fawns represent the innocence of infancy and young childhood, and they are a reminder of the steadfast care that she gave me and that I pass along to the children I look after.

Do you believe in the Cry-It-Out (CIO) method?

Based on current research around brain development in the 0-3 period and the cycle of attachment, I absolutely do not believe in leaving a child to self-soothe when they are not developmentally able to do so. Baby will eventually stop crying, but only because their brain is so stressed that it’s a shutdown state. This leads to a cycle of mistrust in the world and caregivers that can have lifelong effects. Therefore, I always attend to a child’s cries, no matter what. Even a toddler in the midst of a meltdown benefits from attentive care when distressed; even if it doesn’t stop the meltdown, it allows the child’s nervous system to co-regulate with a calm adult.
