For Kelsey, the Montessori principles are a starting point to inform the routine interactions between baby and caregiver. It begins with understanding the baby as a unique person with their own temperament, preferences, and need for respect. From there, the caregiver develops an enriched environment that sets the stage for baby to develop all on their own.

It looks like communicating respect to baby by encouraging conversation, looking for baby’s responses, and paying attention to look for ways that baby is communicating. Additionally, it means looking for developmental cues that tell you what the baby is ready to learn at that stage and tailoring educational opportunities to suit.

Everything we do here is inspired by the underlying idea that by paying close attention, creating opportunities for growth, and nurturing attachment to family, it produces a secure and confident child (then adult) who is ready to take on the rest of their life.
